"Horror Vision"
Lyrics:

I can see the pain and suffering
In my mind, in my head
Vividly I feel their torment
Screams of anguish from the dead

Certainly the smell of death
Will soon drive me insane
There is nothing I can do
Except share in their pain

Tortured demons scream at night
Flying through the red skies
Evil, hate, and destruction
Not meant for mortal eyes

Boiling lakes and burning seas
Creatures of fire block my way
Even though I want to leave
I'm stuck here for today

Fire that is cold to the touch
Water that burns bright
Creatures scream and so do I
At the demons taking flight

Living vines encircle me
And hold me where I am
Breathing rocks roll down the hill
To break the fire dam (damn!)

Flaming quicksand fills around me
And it holds me fast
And from Heaven, I do see
I find a looking glass
Notes:
Reading too much Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King at the same time inspired the poem "Horror Vision", which Jon composed the exactly perfect music for--simple, yet depressing and painful at the same time. And all with a cheesy consumer Casio (the CT-601, I believe).

After we finished it, I didn't much care for it, but over time it has actually grown on me. I now actually really like the depressing, painful-to-listen-to song. It's sort of like sour candy or pungently spiced food, to me: something is uniquely appealing about the combination of odd flavors.
